The Roy Benson FH-302S is a high-quality Bb flugelhorn with well-thought-out features and an elegant design—ideal for beginners, advanced students, and ambitious amateur musicians. Thanks to its 11 mm MS bore, a 6" gold brass bell, and three stainless steel valves, it delivers a warm, focused tone combined with precise response. The silver-plated finish enhances the professional look and ensures clear tone projection. Included is a lightweight, portable rectangular case with a backpack strap—perfect for school, music clubs, or daily rehearsals.
For many years,Roy Benson has been synonymous with solid, creative wind instruments featuring practical features and an outstanding value for the price. The models are developed in close collaboration with renowned instrument makers and experienced musicians. The FH-302S flugelhorn perfectly embodies this philosophy: It is easy to play, solidly built, and musically versatile—from wind ensembles to solo performances.
The MS (Medium Small) bore, with a diameter of 11 mm, provides a good balance between responsive attack and controlled airflow—ideal for beginners looking for an instrument that’s easy to play yet delivers a compelling sound. The 6-inch bell, made of gold brass, delivers a full, warm tone with good projection—especially important for solo passages or seamless ensemble playing.
The mouthpiece is also made of gold brass, which enhances the warmth of the tone while ensuring corrosion resistance. The nickel silver outer valves offer maximum dimensional stability and durability for daily use.
The three stainless steel valves ensure smooth, responsive valve action and are particularly resistant to wear—a decisive advantage for intensive use in the classroom or during regular music-making. A trigger on the third valve slide allows for precise intonation correction in the lower registers—a feature rarely found on instruments in this price range.
With three water keys, the FH-302S is particularly easy to maintain and allows for simple drainage of condensation—even while playing. The silver-plated finish not only gives the instrument an elegant look but also improves sound projection and responsiveness when playing in an ensemble.
The package includes a lightweight rectangular case with a retractable backpack harness. This practical case protects the flugelhorn during transport and is particularly comfortable thanks to its light weight—ideal for young musicians, the commute to school, or the trip to music rehearsal.
The Roy Benson FH-302S offers everything that defines a modern student and amateur flugelhorn: smooth-acting valves, good intonation, a full-bodied sound, and useful features such as a trigger and three water keys. It impresses both visually and sonically and is excellent for getting started in a wind ensemble or as a second instrument for advanced players.
With its well-thought-out design, sturdy body, and comfortable handling, the FH-302S is a reliable companion for everyday musical life—from the first lesson to band practice.
